MY PLEDGE: RESTORE OUR SCHOOL, NURSERY & COLLEGE FUNDING

I love visiting our schools, nurseries and colleges to speak with staff and children and grab a quick play or read with the little ones. BUT

  • High Peak schools have lost £2.2 million a year since 2015
  • Our 6th firms have lost around 30% of their funding since 2010
  • And our nurseries are underfunded for 30 hours childcare

That’s why Labour will:

  1. Invest £25m over 3 years to raise school funding and support children with special needs
  2. Invest £5.6m in nurseries with 30 hours fully funded places for 2,3 and 4 year olds
  3. A special needs co-ordinator for every nursery
  4. Equalise college funding with School GCSE stage funding

I’ve fought for all our schools, nurseries and colleges in High Peak and I’ll continue to do do.

Ruth George, Labour's Champion for High Peak

“There has never been such a huge difference between the political parties and the future they offer. I want people in High Peak to know that there is a better alternative than a government which is about to close nearly 20 hospitals, cut £3 billion from our schools, plunge over 4 million working families into poverty through their harsh cuts to Universal Credit and refuses to rule out cuts to pension increases or higher tax and national insurance. In contrast, I will promote Labour’s message of long-term investment in public services, fairness for working people, and decent support for pensioners and those who cannot work.”
