Ruth George was very very pleased to announce that our Labour-led Borough Council declared a Climate Emergency in High Peak mid-October and will be taking action to reduce emissions in every way, from installing electric vehicle charging points to planting a lot of trees, banning herbicides in our parks and promoting public transport.

And they gave the Freedom of the Borough to Cllr John Pritchard. I’ve known John for many years for his hard work and care for everyone who comes to him for help – a very well deserved award.

It’s time for real change in the High Peak. You can help the Labour party start a new green revolution and take important steps to reduce carbon emissions and move towards a healthier and more sustainable world.

We’ve got an amazing campaign team who want to transform the High Peak. Join the Labour Party or contact us to get involved as a volunteer.

Ruth George, Labour's Champion for High Peak

“There has never been such a huge difference between the political parties and the future they offer. I want people in High Peak to know that there is a better alternative than a government which is about to close nearly 20 hospitals, cut £3 billion from our schools, plunge over 4 million working families into poverty through their harsh cuts to Universal Credit and refuses to rule out cuts to pension increases or higher tax and national insurance. In contrast, I will promote Labour’s message of long-term investment in public services, fairness for working people, and decent support for pensioners and those who cannot work.”
